As the title suggests, the Big Escape, or Adventure, was just around the corner. So we decided to take one weekend out of our crazy, busy lives to just r-e-l-a-x. And what better setting than Eagle View Escape, near the Blue Mountains. Just a scenic 3 ½ hours drive from Canberra, passing through quaint villages that seemed to take us back to simpler days, Eagle View Escape offered us the escape and the views we craved and needed.
Upon arrival, we were greeted to this view…
… followed by a warm and cozy reception from Sally. The warmth radiating from the burning log fire, and the smell of its smoky embers made the drive and drizzly weather all the worthwhile. Sally gave us a quick tour of the lounge (with the aforementioned log fire), board games, tea & coffee facilities and dvd collection free to use at our leisure. There was also an outdoor bbq (however not quite applicable to us, as it was overcast and drizzling all weekend). We were then taken down to our rooms through a lovely fairy-lit corridor.
The rooms are built into the side of the hill, providing an uninterrupted view of the Lake Lyell. With floor-to-ceiling windows, a decent-sized spa bath and gas fire, the rooms could leave you wanting nothing more. There is a small kitchenette for those who prefer to stay in the whole weekend (and with views such as these, why wouldn’t you?) and meal hampers can be arranged. We also opted to have cooked dinners delivered to our door (get the ribs!!!), which were accompanied by cute serviettes stamped with the popular 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; a nice touch.
The weekend was extremely relaxing and perfect for the couple who is in desperate need of an escape to relax, reconnect and unwind. I know we will certainly return next year, after the Big Escape!
One last glimpse at serenity….
