Well peeps, if you are reading this, CONGRATULATIONS! The Mayans were wrong and were are still here to enjoy the wonders of the world.

I managed to keep myself distracted from our impending doom by visiting the Museo de las Fallas. A museum dedicated to displaying (and preserving) a selected sculpture from each year at Valencia’s Fallas festival. These pieces date back to the 1930s and are incredible. Made from paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, polystyrene and cloth, these pieces are created year after year before being displayed in a grand parade and then set alight. The detail in all of the figures are amazing and each ‘float’ (before being set on fire) was huge! I had so many favourites to chose from, but one stand out had to be Yoda and he was done in my birth year! Ah Spain, you know me too well…

And yesterday at school we had a fiesta, featuring food from Spain, Korea, Italy, Iraq and even Down Under (thank goodness I brought some vegemite with me, as it was impossible to find ingredients to make anything ‘Australian’). It was a great afternoon with lots of food and a wonderful way to conclude my solo part of the journey. That’s right folks, my babe is joining me today!

Keep loving and keep living peeps!
